Our most prolific poster appears to be missing...has anyone heard from Robert? He was last on Mar 27, and for someone who posted nearly 20 posts a day - no posts concerns me. I sent a PM, but have had no reply. Thanks!
This topic has reached the 'beating a dead horse' stage. There was a previous thread on his disappearance. JC has chosen to take a break from the Forums for however long he sees fit.
Actually, Mussolini, I never saw or heard anything about "this topic." I actually asked the question as I would if I saw nothing posted by you for a long period of time compared to your regular participation style. I actually care about some of you as human beings beyond being posters at the Forum. Thank you to those who privately and politely sent me messages explaining the situation.
The last time I checked he had posted twentythree-point-something-twentyfour-hours-a-day-seven-days a week as an average. Not strange the poor guy is exhausted.... The WWII lasted for five years, give or take a few months if you consider the Europe or the Pacific. How long can you write about that? Sooner or later you are running out of stuff to post. This forum is already on overtime, it has lasted longer than the conflict we are discussing. The big picture is already debatet, what we are left with are the minute details of the conflict. That requires local and thorough knowledge of the matter, and that's not always easy to get. RAM
that or he,s trying to find a good replacement keyboard that will last a little bit longer due to his major posting and not wear out on him lol
I just figured his keyboard finally broke down and he went shopping for a militarized version of same!
Like Michelle, I too sent him a PM inquiring if everything was going OK for him but--saldy-no reply yet. However, IF I have to refer to contacting him by snailmail--I will do so ;-))
According to pm's, Robert has taken leave of the Forum for an indefinite period. Personally, I hope he eventually returns. As indicated by Mussolini, open discussion regarding the situation on a thread is apparently discouraged. At the moment, while not wanting to agree with Mussolini due to the abruptness of his post to me, I will - based on the hurt that was apparently experienced by others when it was previously discussed on threads that now no longer exist. I do not wish to see it develop into civil (or un-civil) war....
Michelle this is actually the third thread about a "non event" . He is neither active, nor banned. We are not discouraging a discussion , it has already be done several times in fact, but some threads were closed because private messages were quoted. please don't be offended by our lack of patience, but you must understand that we have other things to do than comment the leave of some members who deliberately chose not to return. As to the pms you receive, maybe not everything is black and white, some things are grey. I'm actually considering closing this thread too, but this is the dillemna : if I close it, we might get he same comments again, if I don't, some may carry on here and end up being offended. Therefore I suggest that it is just better not to beat a dead horse.
No problem. I was trying to find a way to answer those who posted on this thread - who like me had never seen the earlier threads - without going into any detail. So at the moment this post is just to say that I won't post anymore..... on this thread. I will mention however that I appreciated Skippers response, and would have appreciated something similar in the first place. I'll stop there because I feel my own blood pressure starting to rise. Perhaps closing the thread is a good idea - but leave it visible so that other who wonder will at least have some degree of information.
You have made an appropriately measured response, Michelle. Closing the thread and leaving it visible sounds like a good action.
