Just the thing for the discerning household:

    Hitler-signed watercolors to be auctioned

Just what I'd hang in my living room when ever unwanted company came over:

Me: "Oh, have you seen my new paintings by Adolf Hitler...."

Them: "We just remembered another engagment we have to go to..... Bye!"

Me: "Hurray! They left! Honey! Take those crappy Hitler paintings down and put them with the velvet one of Elvis we got in Nogy 15 years ago okay!"

See: The makings of one of those Mastercard commercials! Priceless!

Why, because of his name being on it, or because it would be so dreadfully poor?:p

That is true. His portrayal of buildings, landscape, etc was quite good, but his people were very poor. Some have tried to attach some psychological meaning to this, but in all likelyhood he just was not an artist.

This has been discussed in others threads. Not all his paintings are poor. Actually they are not so bad. Some are quite good WWI wartime landscapes and historically interesting too. Besides they are neither propaganda or offending and I doubt that the average visitor would even notice who painted these if they saw it on a wall.

Really Heidi he is far from being a great painter, but I would rather call him classic and average and I've seen worse.

Did you ever see the Comedy series "Father Ted" ?

From what I have seen and there have been a number of threads on this subjects, but of course examination of a small photo is probably not the best thing to give an opinion, I tend to think they are naive -sometimes naive is good, but most often it means that the artists technicque need sharpening up. I was also a bit concerned that the "self portrait on the bridge" figure has no face.
Many people who are otherwise inteligent if misdirected turn bad. numerous officals in the upper echelons of the Nazi structure were degree holders several had more than one, at least one was a double Phd. Other tyrants were inteligent Slobidan Milocivich the serb leader is a recent example.

Also worth bearing in mind is that a very large number of 'Hitler' paintings on the market are forgeries which have even had the 'connoisseurs' fooled.....

Can you imagine the horror of the Vienna art school admissions board (which were predominantly Jewish) seeing Hitler rise to power after rejecting entrance?
