Thanks for pointing this out. Those poor allied soldiers never benefited from the Geneva onvention, to say the least
I want to comment on this story, but I'm too damn angry to do so. They seem to have been badly let down.
on generally, the allies stuck by the "geneva onvention" rules and the germans (not sure on russia and japanese) normally never went by the geneva onvention rules. another lot of inercent people fell vitim to the germans.
Until about a year ago did I think that the Germans followed the Geneva rules when dealing with the Western Allies. I never knew that the Western POWs were used as slave labour. This is a new area of WWII that I definitely want to research and learn more.
This is pretty good IMO - covers the British POWs. Hitler's British Slaves by Sean Longden (9781845295196) - Books at Borders Regards Richie
The longer I'm on this site, the more I realize how much I didn't know. I, too, thought that the Western allies were reasonably treated. Evidently, I was wrong (again). Thanks for posting, David.
