What you say makes sense but-I was under the impression thanks to Marks book-that the short-barrelled STUGS were better-at least at closeer range than the long-barrells. Im no armor or mobile artillery expert by any means but, I until readingIsland of Fire-was of the same opinion as you posted above-about their actual "worth" facing T-34s. Speaking of KOed T-43s, I just got a nice pic of one that was taken by GR 426-Hauptmann and future RKT-Karl Glatzner. It was possible that the KOed T-34 in his pic was done so by a STUG III. I got this info from the seller who was sadly-splitting apart this mans personal things-in which I was only able to keep five together thanks to limited internet access. Anyway, Glatzners unit had STUGS in it according to the seller I got these from. It would be interesting to know the full story.

Must confess that every Lucas book I have (a fair few) leaves me feeling a little cold. Somehow a fair way from the cutting edge, and always with one or two 'hmmm... really?' doubtful moments.
