I guess so, can't seem to find any other generals still alive.

That certainly seems to turn a page in history. I wonder how many WW2 generals from other countries are still alive.

Trettner isn't the only WWII German General that had ben or is still alive. The reason why some are not listed is because those were not more famous ones. Now-as of a few years ago-Ott Kumm-the Brigadefuhrer and last CG of LSSAH-was still alive because I was corresponding with him. Now-if he has passed away within the past few years--I don't know as I never heard of anything on it.

Hi Ike, thanks for that. I hadn't realized it's already been that long? Well, I still have the envelopes-letters and signed pics I got from him. He was able to read and write English pretty-well as indicated in the letters I got from him. The last time I wrote to him, he did say his health was failing and that he was depressed. I tried my best to cheer him up some with jokes and such. I remember shortly after the last time I wrote to him-that an "announcement" came out from the LSSAH Vets Org-asking people to please not send letters to him any longer. I recieved a letter from them saying that since Herr Kumm and I had been exchanginf letters since 1999-that I was authorized to continue to send him mail because he liked what I had to say-mentioning a few jokes I sent him sometime earlier. I also had sent him copies of the photos I took when Susanne and I visited Remy Schrijnen-and they said he quite enjoyed seeing these photos of a fellow Waffen SS Vet/RKT/friend as Remy apparently was one of his.

I miss my association with some of these Vets I had been in touch with for so long.
