What if they would of refueled and resupplied Patton instead of focusing supply lines to Montgomery? I've heard different arguments on this and am curious to hear people other than kids and teachers in my high schools' input.

well the americans and the rest of the allies would have went right into berlin and germany would have been taken and probably would have been given back to the germans and the russians would have lost there chance to do it

Connell, you need to read the What If... Rules and then follow them. Your current post does not meet the requirements to post in the What If... section.

Patton did cross the Rhine and did so ahead of Montgomery. In fact, Montgomery's forces were the last army to cross the Rhine as all three of the US Armies not under his command had already done so ahead of him.

In one case, the 5th Infantry Division used their and corps L-5 Grasshoppers to fly a battalion of infantry across the river and establish a bridgehead that was then bridged into by engnieers of 3rd Army. Patton joked to reporters about his "airborne assault" satirizing Montgomery's larger airborne drops in typical fashion of that rivalry.

My question is a little off but what I meant is What would of happened had he been resupplied and refueled earlier and crossed it earlier? Do you think the war could of possibly ended sooner?

He was a very charismatic man so I would imagine that if he was ready he would have made a reason for himself doing so. The issue was that the fuel and munitions simply didnt go as fast as he advanced.

But if he did somehow I would imagine that there would be a very large gap in the German lines as the German units in his vicinity were scrambling to make defensive positions. They likely would have surrendered without a fight.

Patton was too far south in Germany to have a significant effect on the outcome of the war. It was really 1st and 9th US Armys that could have made a difference taking the Ruhr and then thrusting into Central Germany.

well I think they could have made it easier on patton if they would have hammered berlin with any bombers they could get there hands on and then allow a drop of american and british paratroopers and and so therefore most of the resistance in germany would have either been wounded or killed making them an easy target for paratroopers to establish a secure area then patton would have made his way right in .
