The Best Hamburgers I've ever had were at private restaurants. I put Nathan's at #1 because it is on par with a lot of average, privately owned eateries and thus a step up from the other fast food joints. I've never been to In and Out or other West coast shops yet, though. The Chik -Fil A fries are definitely pretty good, and probably the only thing I find particularly good from that shop.
Nathan's Natural Casing dogs are the best. There used to be a Nathan's at Santa Cruise Boardwalk. Now the only place to get Nathan's dogs are at the grocery store. Sorry for the minor thread jack
tell me you dont even have a 5 guys burgers and fries around you? they are sprouting up all over new york and i dont know where else but the burgers are the best thing i've ever had.
Their cheesestreaks are decent, too. In fact, they're actually better than the cheesesteaks sold a dedicated cheesesteak chain "Great Steaks". The Nathan cheesesteaks use the right bread, meat, and cheese from what I've had.
haven't eaten fast food for a very long time!! trying to stay away from it, but my fave used to be burger king.
All I can say is that none of you have really "eaten" a great Burger-untill you eat one @ Wal-Bangers in Corpus Christi. Their Fries are top notch too-and are the curly kind shich you can get both unspiced and spiced. Dip these in Mayo-and you can enjoy them German style. As for fast food burgers-Burger King-then Whataburger. Checkers are good but I had not realized they were as wide-spread as they are. I discovered this place when I was in College in Harlingen-back in early 1993. Not only were they low priced-but tasted great too. All of us poor starving college students ate there a few times a week. PS, Wal-Bangers is the home of the 3 and 10 pound Burgers. A 3-pounder can easily feed 6 people. I went to a wedding where they had Wal-Bangers cater-and they had about 200 guests. All they needed were about 30 10-pounders-which came wiht those curly fries and salas. They had some leftovers-but many volunteered to take some with them. The aroma in that hall smelled of Bacon-Cheeseburgers.
Doing all of I.10 etc over 23 states and about 30 cities in 59 nights, we liked Waffle House the best. Good tucker, reasonable price. John.
I am on the same page as you when it comes to 5 GUYS. Pretty expensive but worth every penny, especially since every topping is free and they leave out the malt vinegar for the fries. It's fantastical.
