I've always been hoping for a first class "Alien war" film, similar to Aliens but in far greater scale.

Despite the obvious impact of the "Alien"... I have to admit to "Aliens" being my favorite. Lots of firepower, deaths of a very "raw" nature, survival, fear and all the rest of it. Numbers III & IV kindda lost the plot for me, Ripley was the main character in the first two, but rather than let her go the writers came up with "half assesd" ways of keeping the character. Come on, the Alien is the star of the show, not Sigourney with a skin-head. :)

There's some impressive sci-fi graphic novel work with Aliens depicting the Alien vs. human war. Human civilization is corporatist and pseudo-fascist.

No.3 was weak but from what I've read and seen Fincher the Director had lots of flack from the studio's, the directors cut of ALIEN3 is a little better. The fourth one was not bad but the Alien hybrid was to much for me. As for Sigourney I think we can safely say she will not be back, poor women is knocking on a bit now.

Lets just hope we get a good story and may be a back story of the space jockey as well.

I've met the actor who played Ltd. Gorman in ALIENS at a ALIEN convention many years ago.

BTW: The Marines Armour was done by Terry English who also worked on Excalibur. The smart gun you see in the picture is a German MG42 with motor bike bits added to it.

Richard ... What did you think of the "spin offs" AVP & AVP Requiem? I'm not sure of the reasons behind making those two films ... Maybe "Hollyweird" knew they had a good fan-base from the originals and CGI or a guy in a monster suite cost a lot less than big budget stars like Arnie & Sigourney?

aliens III was my fav. dunno, british casting and directing is just different. could hollywood have written a line in the script with the delivery befitting an oxonian?

"what we have here is creature that spits out acid... it kills on sight, and is generally unpleasant..."

I still have scars on my forearm where my date dug her nails as the "baby" alien burst from the poor guy's stomach! Great movie!

Saw the first one and it struck me as bland as dish water but what I heard about No.2 it made the first one look good.

The whole AVP thing came about from Predator two where you see which looks like a Alien skull on the trophy wall. These cross over films don't work and yet Hollywood dose not seem to get the message as I hear AVP3 is set to be a film, Doh.

I thought that the Alien Franchise had sorta "dried up?" I mena-not that I never watched the movies-which I did-but, afte Aliens and AvP-there just didn't seem to be much more they coule do. Also, I heard there was an AvP 2nd-out. I so? anyone here ever see it and if so? was it better than AvP?

The general view point of AVP2 is a awful film with a cop out predictable ending and those who have seen it have often said this film makes the first one look better.

Hi Richard, I saw part of one of them but not much. The only thing I remember from it-was some Lady being saluted a Preditor. If that's all I remember-you have to be correct about it not being much of a film. ;-))

They were a result of the PC games (which were fantastic) and I think were mainly designed to appeal to predator fans. Frankly I went into AVP expecting a rather silly sci-fi film in the vein of Predator 1 and 2, I got what I wanted. It was the only film I have ever heard an audience cheer during the film, it is so corny and silly but if that is what you wanted then so much the better.

I watched a little of Aliens last night. I've forgotten how awesome that movie is. That whole segment where they escape from the Hive, hold a defensive position with all weapons, then escape through the ventilation system is great.

Al Matthews who played the part of Sergeant Apone served in the US Marines put the marine cast though there paces, did a good job.
