We "know" each other online, but what about in person, face to face? Have you met any other Rogues, travelled to or met at WW2 sites, drank beer and swapped theoretical war stories with? So far, I have not met any other Rogues outside of the WW2F online neighborhood, but plan to do so when I retire and start my travelling adventures! What about you?
I've spoken with Otto, Mussolini and Slipdigit on the phone and Stefan was the hero of this past Christmas when he managed to get my son some militaria. Mussolini lives about 5 miles away from me so at some point . . . .
Bobby, Unfortunately..... I haven't had the opportunity of meeting any Rogues face to face on this forum. I still feel pretty new here, and wouldn't even consider myself a Rogue I guess If someone could clarify that for me, that would be pretty friggin sweet! I know I have formed some great friendships... and for that, I'm very grateful. It's hard too, because I haven't been able to find anyone else on here from Colorado...
Well, lets see..I've seen a very distinguished rogue (dgmitchell) on TV recently. Does that count? When I get back down to Texas, Carl and TA152 (Steve) I plan to visit with! I would say anyone coming out to the DC area, just let me know and we'll plan to meet for food and fun somwhere. I am hoping to meet Jack (SWPacificVet) too sometime when I go to LA on business.
Not yet. At some point I may make my way out West to Chicago and meet up with Otto. If anyone is in the Cleveland area, drop me a line. I will let y'all know when I make my way down to the home country in Texas
I haven't met any, either, although I also saw David's interesting shopping piece. The contacts in the forum, however, are very satisfying.
Geeze-gimme a tough complicated question to answer anic: From this site-I have only met two in person-two who have not been here for about 7-8 years for unknown reasons. From this site-I have spoken with by "Ma Bells Communication Device" Erich, Frank, Paul, Otto, Jeff, Scott and a few others who are here but not as often as they would like to be (Karen) ;-)) From waf-four including Jurg and Susanne. From mcf, (unfortunately I chatted with the sites owner many times) Then there was W.C.Stump, Greg N. Sarge Dave, Sarge Bill, Bob "Colorado Bob" Jones, gary, Steve C, Allen H, Sherrie Lex, M. Hansen, and I think that's it from there. GMIC, Rick L, Fred W, Tom F, Duke Wayne, Jim & Sue Sutterlin, Miks from Prattville, Alabama, Joey Beckworth from ""Dog Patch" Georgia, Kevin (Site Admin) from Atlanta, Georgia, Sharon (from ) Australia, Mike (from) Ireland, Jay from San Antonio, Colorado Bob-again, Todd, from Minnisota, "Stumpy" from West, Tx, Cindy from Manville, TX, Eric Thompson from Colorado, and I can't remember whom else from that site? From John Wayne dot com, Michael Waack, from Illinois, "Wayne" from Winterset, Iowa, William T Brooks "Chili Bill, from the Peoples Democratic Republic of Kalifornia, and a few others. War Traders Guild, Fred Z, Brian F, Frank M, Rob from Ireland, and a couple of others. If I forgot any-I apologise.
I know y'all over in America see us as living in "Little ol England" ...... well maybe, compared to the US that is. And it probably wont help that image when I say I've met two of the Rogues off this site ... namely: Jagdpanther44 (John) and Pegasus (Niel), who both live within a 30min drive from me. John posted pictures and info about a WW2 HAA Battery not too far from where I live. After a bit of organizing the three of us met up to explore the site. The meeting did have a bit of a 'blind date' feel to it, but as it turned out, they are two very decent guys. It would seem there are quite a few WW2 and RAF sites within range of us, and I am looking forward to joining forces again with John and Niel and anyone else from the North West UK for that matter.
Actually none. I have considered meeting up Stephan and a few other European rogues in Holland or the UK, but due to lack of time I haven't met them yet. I suppose Martin and Wessex often roam around my house ( 24 H Le Mans race was last week for instance ) , but they won't stop for a tea, maybe I should try with beer instead.
Not met any, unless you count Old Hickory. I've talked to a lot on the phone. Shoulda talked to DGMitchell and Musso while I was in Orlanda last March.
Well, if you offer a discount for your fellow Rogues when you open up your hotdog wagon, you just might meet a lot of them like that!
Considering how small the UK is and how close we all are to one another maybe we should organise some sort of get together. The question is where, London so European folks may be able to hop over?
Stefan, that sounds like a plan it has been mentioned before so perhaps its time we got it together, any other Rogues up for it sound of guys lets see who is up for it
Right, why not just go for it, how about meeting in London sometime in August? Hopefully the first or second week as I'm away after that for the forseeable future. Anyone else interested?
The Uk members are planning to met up in London,to bad you weren;t living in The UK,you would have met you first rouges!
I truly envy you guys. Most of the members here live either in the same continent or the same country so meeting each other is relatively easier. For me who lives in an archipelago, I have to get a visa first then an airline ticket just to get to a country where most of the members live. I've been to DC, the East Coast and Canada before and I wished I had known this forum then. That way, I would have a chance to meet members of this great forum. The other Filipinos or of Filipino descent (I think) I have noticed here are all living in the US. I haven't met any Rogues. So if anyone of you guys are going to Manila because of work, business, or for personal reasons, let me know. I'll gladly set aside time to meet a member of this forum.
I have talked alot with Musso and Joe on xfire by microphone, and i have known Simensme since first grade... But i have not met another rogue face to face yet, i guess there are not that many in norway... Im going to London this fall, so if i get in thouch with anyone how lives there... Who knows...
