No further trace after Freising. Did the man stay in Bavaria until 1945, or leave for medical reasons to either Austria or Slovenia?
He left to Austria. There were problems with partizans in Slovenija, he had to hide at home even some more time. He has burned his uniform along with any more documents... I thank you all for this help. I know, I don't own a Soldbuch in a good shape, either filled with any more information. But seems like the artilery crewman runs in our family. My father was also in Light artilery in JLA. Thanks again... U know the things, and u have a German language in your little finger.:bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:
You are more than welcome. I suppose it must not have been easy for him after the war. Having fought in the Wehrmacht wouldn't have made him popular with the Partisans who would probably have killed him if they caught him . If he burnt his uniform is that because he deserted and went to Austria (the place where he probably met people when he at the Klagenfurt Lazarett to assist him ?
Hmm. Grandpa never mentioned that he would desert the army. As the war ended, he was relieved off duty, as many others. Can you tell me more about 25. artillery regiment, 7. division. I tried to find anything, but isn't anything more than a pitch black.
I will see what i can find. In the meantime this is a picture of the Freising artilery kaserne where you granddad went in 1944
