Some of you may be aware about the Lebensborn programmme (Himmler's project to create the "perfect" aryan race. Several Lebenborn nurseries were opened in Germany and annexed territories during the war. What is far less known is that a Lebensborn center was opened in France at Lamorlaye , near Chantilly, north of Paris. This was for SS soldiers who had children with Volksdeutsche or Northern European women. In France these could be women from Alsace, Lorraine, Flanders, German Poles who had immigrated to France in the 1920s, Dutch and Belgium girls.....etc... It was directed by Dr Fritze Gunther Party number 5 062 159 SS number 235 604 born 4.1.1913 ranked SS Sturmbannführer on 20.4.44 He was a former police doctor with rank Ober Stabzarzt der Polizei he was Lebensborn Beauftragter für Frankreich and leiter Heim Westwald.
