Any WWII Military Vehicle Owners Out There?

What do you have and what's it's story? Pictures are great!
Here's my 1945 GMC CCKW 353 H1 & 1945 M3A4 Utility Hand Cart.
The CCKW has been a project dad and I have been working on since 2006, we're pictured below in front of our truck just before we left Wooster during the MVPA's Transcontinental Motor Convoy 2009. The little handcart is something I picked out at an estate auction for $35 this past year.

 

Very nice! I'm actually going to look at, what I think is a command car, this afternoon! Did you do the resto in the cart? It looks great!

Hey Packard, your Dad's Jimmy looks in lovely original condition. there's an ongoing debate over how much 'restoration' should triumph over 'preservation', nice to see a vehicle that's in good order but hasn't been mucked about with.
Are those WW2 markings? Any work done on finding it's history?

I'd love to own a Willies Jeep - its my 'dream car' (despite the fact I don't know how to drive stick). Wouldn't know where to find one, let alone be able to afford one.

Hopefully below will be attached photos of my vehicles. they are a 42 Ford GPW Jeep presently under restoration, a 43 Willys MB Jeep and a 43 Dodge WC51 Weapons carrier. I also have a 43 Bantam T3 Jeep trailer on the road and a 43 Willys MBT Jeep trailer awaiting restoration

I have hands full with the vehicles i have already but would like a GMC or Chevy cargo one day. The best way to track down a jeep is either via the myriad of web sites that catter for the military set otherwise your local agricultural or classic car magazines etc they come up now and again. Just keep your eyes peeled, and network basically. depending on what country your in they can be expensive.

 

Hi willys i would really love to have a jeep but my partner wont buy me one so i have to settle at the mo with a lorry i cant really drive lol. Your Dodge weapons carrier looks really good, i would like to have one of them as well which is cheaper a jeep or dodge? My lorry is for sale at the mo but we would part exchange or swap it for something else but no one wants to swap something like a jeep for a huge lorry. Lol GMC's are cool trucks i am friends with a big re-enactment group called the 514th red bull express and they have a huge collection of GMC and others i drove one of them and they are alot easier to drive then the hippo. My dream lorry would either be a Mack or A diamond-t lol but im not sure how much they cost. I saw a jeep over here for about £22,000 it belonged to a friend it was fully restored everything oringinal fully kitted out but that is a lot of money. If any one has any info or knows where any more hippos are located please let me know my partner is trying to put a hippo group together.

 

Yea tatty, unfortunately Jeeps are about the most popular and therefore expensive of the WW2 vehicles to get (aside from something rare like a Tiger etc). Dodges are normaly cheaper than a jeep. But NZ and Aussie are probably the cheapest places to get WW2 Jeeps, dodges and GMC etc compared to the US and Europe. I love the Diamond T also, a lovely truck.

 

yeah and i would like one but then you cant have everything can you. yeah we might be getting an Austin k5 i think it is when ever the hippo sells. really yeah but thats a long way to ship one it would be expensive wouldnt it? Yeah they are good trucks but its about the same size if not bigger then the hippo. how are they to drive. i quite like the big macks aswell.

 

i own a petrol ww2 model tank if that counts?

 

Thirty years ago I went to a car show and they were selling WW2 vintage jeeps for under $200. I could have purchased a fleet of them . . . if I had not been 12 years old at the time!
