Your article is very interesting to me. My uncle Piet (Pete) was arrested in 1943 in the City of Rotterdam and transported to St.Malo. His only crime was walking in the wrong place at the wrong time! He and several unlucky Rotterdammers had to work on the german defenses there in France. After the liberation he walked all the way back to his hometown in the Netherlands. He was lucky not to have been killed in one of the many airraids by the Allies.
