I joined to ask this. Please no sarcasm, I'd like to know what you all think. Obama has been likened by some veterans to Hitler with the way people at least used to love him. Do you believe it's possible for another man, if loved the way Hitler was by the Germans, to fill his shoes? Why should we believe somebody means well just because they say they do?

EDIT: Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Anytime the topic of politics or politicians is brought up, sarcasm is always hitched with it. Interesting reason for joining a WWII forum.

I think Obama has a long way to go to be likened to Adolf Hitler pre flowers war period where histeria was commonplace amongst German thinking people throughout the area of his influence. One or two old German vets I have spoken to make it quite obvious that Hitlers speeches were "mesmerising, captivating and inspiring"
I havent seen that with Obama. However Nowadays, I dont think it matters whether its an American,or European politician I think most people are suspicious of any politician. Who can blame them, with the mess we are all in, through their greed and corruption.

    My sentiments, also.

As much as dislike BHO (which is significant), I really can't see any correlation between him and Herr Schnicklegruber. Further, I can't imagine any similarities between the Bavarian Corporal and any current US political leaders. How anyone could compare any US President with the former Chancellor of Germany is beyond me.

    Ah, Slip,

See its a matter of prospective for these folks. When they get so twisted around the axle they seem to go about comparing just about anyone to Adolf or Mr. Stalin. They did it to Bush, now it's happening to Obama(I did not vote for Obama, nor would I). I think its rather rash to do so, but such are the time we live in.

    Yours,

    Bill

Good word choice in using "dead" to describe Obama's health care agenda

I don't remember Bush setting up government facilities which actively encouraged Americans to inform on other Americans who publicly spoke out against his domestic policies. That sounds extremely creepy to me.

According to the left, the NSA intercepting emails sent from Afghanistan to the US was an outrage, but now silence when it comes to Obama's STASI tactics. Very interesting indeed.

And let's not forget, tough though it is to believe, just because veterans say it doesn't make it true!

First record I ever bought, in a garden centre near York...
Custer was on the other side.

Did he have an ulterior motive? Other than making odd records and falling over a lot?
Or was the falling over his real motive.

Dead now, so we may never know - maybe he told you Urqh?...

Didn't know you trod the boards, no doubt another remarkable segment of your glittering career.

I'm quite interested to know about the above. Could you provide a link to a website about this?

I'm not a supporter of Mr. Obama, and quite frankly his policies scared the heck out of me and my wife. Reckless spending and governement control... Scary to think about.

    Yours,

    Bill

I would point out that while the Democrats are not Nazis, and Obama is not Hitler their social policies are quite similar. The Left in America of which both the party and Obama are part and parcel of have very similar social aims:

    Gun control
    Anti-smoking
    Pro-public transportation
    Want to politicize unions
Want to make union membership manditory where possible
    Want to politicize public education
Want to eliminate alternatives to public education
Willing to nationalize in whole or part private industry
    For national health care
    For animal rights and anti-vivisection
    Pro-vegan
For manditory national service in politicized orgainzations (Hitler Youth, Americorps etc.)
    Pro public works projects
    For heavy taxation of rich
Both favor showing racial and gender preferences to select groups (yes, the Nazis in this are were far more virulent but, affirmative action, Title IX sports, etc., accomplish much the same purpose).

I think that's enough to show that there is a very good coorelation between the two parties in social policy. However, that said, I don't like using the comparison. It is has been beaten to death to the point where it now does little but prove Godwin's Law.
