Looking around the net, the "silver" infantry assault badges can cost up to 100 pounds!

Tell me about it:eek:. I know myself & Fischer have paid "outrageous sums" if the wives found out. We did work out sometime ago how much we'd spent on IAB's alone between us. It was a shock i can tell you;). Stewy

why ? they are not that uncommon. i have just purchased a very clean Km Minenabzeichen for a heck of a steal and I am trying to figure for it's clean-ness and the maker mark why the thing would go for some 350.00 US or more, though I paid a little over half that amount.
Will post a different thread on this later next week when other interesting spec items come to the door from abroad

Erich, there are so many makers & so many variants (including some hybrids). I've over 70 & no two are the same. Fischer has more than double that & he has next to no doubles. I think:eek:. Some are pricey because they are mint, boxed, unissued & some because they are the Holy Grail type IAB's & hardcore IAB collectors will snap them up in any nick. Occasionally you pick up a rarity for a song as the seller believes it to be a common type. Stewy

Stew, I think you see my point as for the ground pounder in the Wehrmacht this was a very common badge awarded by an incredible amount of makers in the Reich. seems senseless for even the so-called rare item maker to be consuming so much of ones pocket book with just a name/marking engraved on the badge.

I do agree. I've shifted focus away from IAB's for a while, due to some of the outrageous prices being asked. I can wait to further my collection in a while. IAB's seem "in" just lately. Several of mine are part of groups. Which i like, nice to keep stuff together. With me if i buy/see an IAB i've got but the one for sale's better. I don't upgrade,i'm happy with the one i have as this means my collection has a nice cross section from mint to buggered:). Stewy

Hi Texson, I bought two from a nice Gent. Paid for one while awaiting its hopeful and eventual delivery that is, is some postal worker has not lost the package and or pinched those badges. Both badges were posted here by Ted (tfer) and im getting both if the postal system ever decides ite necessary to deliver the goodies here? If they don't deliver, both Ted and I are out on their values - at least for awhile.

$170 is way more than I would pay for one unless it was stone mint and came with extras like an issue packet-or was one of the most sought after IABs to get ;-))
