Hi Ray, thanks for the heads-up on this movie. From the ads I saw-I felt it would probably be another lousy movie. Your words on it are good enough for me. ;-))
I was hoping for a real good film carl,especially with all the hype,but what a let down,giant prawns as aliens,no!!!

I thought initially when the film began that it was going to be lame as hell yet it turned out to be a really good movie. It was obviously a political movie tied in with the apartheid/refugees etc etc. Great points of the movie * The acting was quirky/different, but i believe it suited the film in an odd way. * The Special effects were amazing * the fight scenes were badd ass
Why the hell is everyone saying the movie sucked? Either you guys are watching too many WWII movies or something else...
Hi Ray, I still see ads for it played here. The special effects look decent but, I think I will still skip seeing this movie and maybe rewatch Valkyrie ;-))
even my brother in law who will watch anything,and mostly does,and gets a laugh/say's good film,he thought it absolute tosh..if your a certain age group it might appeal,but as adult viewing! don't make me laugh! watching paint dry comes to mind......probably more interesting!!!...
Wow guys did you watch the same movie as me? I am no kid, the movie was well acted though some may not like the documentary feel of the shooting. The story is loaded with real world political commentary on Racism & Refugees plight. It also looks at some of the negative side of the human race. The Aliens are not cute or scary matter of fact they are kind of pathetic and gross. This movie is not the typical Hollywood crap they feed us. It challenges the viewer to follow the story and to look at a dark side of human nature.
Yeah, I thought it was an absolutely brilliant movie. Very VERY original for a movie script too - not based on a book or anything like that. The Documentary style filming I thought was a very good touch and tied in with the plot well (they were Documenting what was happening, after all) and I'm excited to see the sequel (there has to be a sequel!).
I too enjoyed the movie, but it was a little preachy in its attempt to make parallels to aliens (the prawns) and the apartheid situation of South Africa. The special effects were good, but the real issue is: how did it fare at the box office??? District 9 (2009) - Box Office Mojo Surprised me, I tell you!
