1. Your Name: Whats your name? What would you like to be called? How did you come up with your member-name? B-24Liberator is the name. I had a math teacher that flew B-24 Liberators in WW2 and he was also a photographer. He used to give us slide shows at least once a week and it had always made an impression on me, plus his stories were always good. 2. Age: How old are you? How long have you been interested in WWII? I am 40 years old and have been interested since I was very little. I remember watchng the World At War series with my Dad late Saturday nights and was fascinated by the footage. Plus, the exposure to war movies. 3. Origins: Where are you from? Texas 4. Specifics: What areas of WWII are you interested in? What would you like to know more about? Specifically, the war in Europe I find the most interesting. And really, just about all aspects of it. From the hardware to the Politics. The technological advances that ocurred during WW2 I think are both astounding and terrifying (there are advances in every war, but I believe that it was Churchill that referred WW2 as the "Wizards War"?). Would like to learn more about the Pacific Theatre and, of course, the engineering efforts behind the technology. 5. Hobbies: What sort of Hobbies do you have? Are any related to World War II? Wargaming? Video-games? Memorabilia? Visiting historic sites? I have played the entire Call Of Duty series (COD2 will always have a special place in my heart) and currently have Medal Of Honor Airborne installed, but have not started it yet. I just don't game as much as I used to. Just purchased a book titled "Target America: Hitlers Plan To Attack The United States" by James P. Duffy. Will probably start it this weekend. 6. Other: What other time periods are you interested in? Specific eras? Why? Probably going to have to say WW1 and am taking more of an interest in the Civil War. The reason is to better understand America's role as a warpower since it's inception. 7. Miscellaneous: Anything else you'd like to share with us? Never served in the military but my respect for the military runs deep. The generation that fought WW2 is often referred to as our Greatest Generation, and I certainly agree. Sadly, more and more are leaving us. I have read this site off and on and decided to join to get more involved. See ya on the boards.
B-24, Well done on your first post! Love to hear all the feedback... currently watching the World at War series, and can't put it down. Enjoy your stay with us, and holler if you need anything... plenty of help around here all the best, Jem
