I was just wondering if anyone would know if this coin was in regular circulation in Italy? It belongs to my grandfather and he has kept this in hopes that one day it will be worth something. Hopefully the pictures show up clearly enough, I never knew how hard it was to photograph one of these.

Italian currency hasn't even been in circulation since the euro was adopted (unless you consider Italian euro coins to be Italian currency). Even before that, Italy's money was replaced in 1943 and again in 1946. Any coin or banknote that is not legal tender is not considered to be in circulation.

sorry for replying so late, I am just gotten over a nasty cold. When I read your response I must have given the wrong impression, what I meant was was this coin in circulation (like a penny) back then.

I believe it was, and for value of same you might wish to goto:

20 LIRE ITALIAN MUSSOLINI COIN RESTRKE

and fire them off a note to find out the specifics of the coin.

Thanks Clint, I will definitely check it out! Even if it isn't worth anything it still a neat thing to have!
