Hi

My mum was married to Cpl Arthur Wynn who was wounded during the Rhine crossing in the Bislich area and died of his wounds on 31 March 1945. He was 27 years old and is buried in the War Cemetery in Venray, Holland. They had lived in Shepherd's Bush, London.

All my mum was told at the time was that he received a chest wound (we don't know if it was gunshot) during the crossing. My mum has visited Holland and spoken to locals but we are not sure if what we have been told is valid.

To help my mum with some closure (she is now 93 years old) I have started investigating and one of the things I have done is to join WW2F. I am trying to seek anybody that may have either known Arthur, was in the 6th Btn or who was involved in the crossing in the area of Bislich who may be able to shed some light on conditions etc at that time. For example, how were injured evacuated and to where? Any small snippet of information will help us and I appreciate and respect that I may be contacting some senior citizens or others who would prefer not to dig up the past.

Hi Keith,

As your mother would most likely have been listed as his next of kin on his Army service records you might want to apply for them on her behalf.

Due to the UK Data Protection Act there might be some additional paperwork (ie. proving she was married to him if her last name is now different) but there might be something in them that gives a hint.
