hello everyone, my name is Justin and i love learning about WWII for some reason. Im only 16 and not alot of kids now a days have any respect for what happended back then. Alot of my friends think im wierd because i go to the school library to take out a WW2 book thats not for school work but for my own enjoyment. Right now im reading a book called Battle For Berlin very interesting it was written in 1968, the last person to take it out before me was in 1996, before that was 1994 twice and then it was 1976 not many people take out old books. I also spend alot of time on the internet reading for hours about the war, so this place is excelent. so thanks in advence to any help you may give me. Justin Bouchard.
Hi there Justin, sad to hear what your friends think. I teach history and alot of the kids are the same as your friends-uninterested. If you want to know anything about history dont hesitate to ask for a lesson!
Well, that's why I don't take books from the school library. Ours isn't very extensive anyway. Well welcome Justin, you're still my elder, so don't start feeling too old ;P. And Smithson, or Mr. Smithson, I completely understand. My AP US History teacher is one of the most knowledgeable and funny teachers I've ever known, having taught for forty over years from the Marianas to Montana, and graded AP tests for decades. Yet, even this remarkable man is only able to spark a tiny interest in history. Besides a few, actually, only one of my friends, everyone simply forgets everything after the AP test.
well its nice to see young people that have as much of interest in history as i do. Me im more interest in the european part of the war for some reason.
Welcome Justin. If I may voice an opinion - and teachers may agree - I think in today's fast automated world, from zapping TV channels with the remote, to text messages and e-mail etc, many young people lack the attention span to remain interested in anything that lasts more than a few seconds, let alone read an entire book. Keep reading your WWII books, old and new, think critically, and reap the rewards! Greg C.

Welcome Justin! really glad you joined as for the younger generation learning about the first and second world wars it does get fustrating when even the schools no longer teach them... I remember when I was in the second grade learning about the first world war and Billy Bishop, my son who is currently in grade 3 hasn't even heard about it yet! I find this so sad!
Hey Justin Welcome to the forum... you've come to the right place. i am very much like you... I would spend hours in the library at school reading on the war..It would drive me crazy that my grade 9 teacher would spend literlly a week on teaching us about the war, and the lessons were so basic.. like who were the allies.. and who were the bad guys! Frusterating isn't it. It's a passion to learn, to explore.. Who cares what your schoolmates think.. You can take what you learned and present it here in the forum.. There are so many experts here that can assist you with any questions you may have and discuss practically anything that comes to mind...
