My father, William Wellington Taylor, Jr. was a combat infantryman and "Son of Bitche" with the 100th. Infantry Division, 399th. Infantry Regiment. I have a website with over 300 letters he wrote home during his tour of duty. I am interested in anyone who has first hand information about the Vosges Mountain Campaign, particularly the assault on the Citadel at Bitche. The letters I am currently posting deal with this battle. They can be read at www.taylorletters.blogspot.com Thank you, Greg Taylor Los Angeles, California
Greg, I'm sure you are familiar with this book _When The Odds Were Even: The Vosges Mountain Campaign October 1944 - January 1945_ by Keith Bonn Amazon.com: When the Odds Were Even: The Vosges Mountain Campaign, October 1944--January 1945 (9780891416029): Keith Bonn: Books Greg C.
Yes, Greg I have this book. It is an exellent study of the campaign. I also have the unit histories of the 100th. Infantry, 399th. Regiment, and even Co. A, my dad's company. I also have "Love Company" the story of L Co. and "Into the Mountains Dark" written by Frank Gurley of Co. A. My father knew him and mentions him in his letters. Greg
