I thought maybe some of you like to see some of the Christmas parts of my collection. The Christmas part of the collection started 9 years ago and is just like Christmas because I keep recieving packages from Ebay and other places at my door. The first item is a ww1 letter written on YMCA stationary. The 2nd is a greeting card from the 8th air corps. I hope you all will like. If any of you have some Christmas items in your collection please post I would like to see.
Great items 107th. Im kinda fond of 8th AZF stuff because my Dad was in it during the war. I have no salutes to give ya but repped ya instead.
Thanks pal, I always had been fond of the 8th as well. I was friends with Colonel Morgan over the years and had the privelege of following his knighthood from the queen in 1993. Now his plane the Memphis Belle is at Wright Patterson and it seems the circle is complete. Plus I grew up next door to a guy who was a photographer for the 8th on bombing missions. Thank you for your dad's service.
Here is another item from the collection from the USS Henderson Christmas message. This is the transport and not the Destroyer. Here is the link if you want to read more on the ship. USN Ships--USS Henderson (Transport # 1, later AP-1)
Great outstanding material , mixing war, destruction and a Christmas message of peace is quite a challenge
Thanks Skipper glad you enjoyed. Did you happen to have any Christmas items in your collection? I will have more to post soon.
Actually I have quite a few, mainly pictures and Christmas postcards, digging them up from my archives is another matter
I understand how that is sometimes I forget where I put things and then go right to panic mode. Stuff always seems to be hidden or under piles of items I was looking for last time.
I'd have loved to have written to Col. morgan. If i recall correctly? he died a few years ago from an accident of somekind/ Sorrowful way for a man of history to leave us. BTW, for anyone interested? I recently found two lists of contacts I have-one is most of my RKT guys (now about half or so of them have passed away unfortunately) as well as my lists for Ami vets too. If interested in a few contacts/ let me know and I can provide adddresses. I dont know who on these lists are still with us and who aint--so-you'll be taking chances when writing.
You know somehting i would love to have? I would love to have an original copy of that famed prayer that the Chaplain of the 3rd Army was ordered by General Patton to write. You know-the one that cleard the weather so that our planes could fly to help defeat the germans at the battle fo the bulge. ;-0)
Will do. However, which are you referring about? Allied or Axis addresses? Let me know and I can probably give you some by Saturday. Take care--Carl.
Carl, I would be interested in either. If your interested I can make some copies of the autographed photos I have of Colonel Morgan and some candid shots. I appreciate it.
OK, I can do both. I can't remember if my Allied include MoHers or not? but some are from the Blacksheep Squadron (VMF-214-Pappy Boyingtons Boys) for those who don't know about them? I also have some Doolittle Raiders, Astronauts, Test Pilots and such. Also, maybe an Admirla or a General to throw in as well ;-)) I do recall that at least at one time-I did or do have Gen Chuck Yeagers Addy ;-))
Here is a couple of more Christmas items both are menus from the 7th service group and another from Camp Roberts. Any dinner that ends with free cigars is a good dinner. They ate pretty well that one time out of the year. Sorry if the one is angled funny I couldn't get the scanner to rotate for some reason.
Hi 107th, if my computer lets me on this site tonight? ill send you a sampling of RKT and Allied addresses. If you don't see them? it will mean my comp/ didn't allow me to get access here. Forgot to mention; the only Christmasy stuff I have pertaining to the war are a few candid shots of a German dressed up as Father Time, and maybe a shot of their Christmas tree?
Hey pal, post them on here. I would like to see them. Hopefully your computer allows you. It has to be better than using the library computer.
