Received these docs recently and thought I'd share them. It's monotonous reading but imagine having to live under these rules. Which country's civilian internees do you think had it worse? America's or Japan's?
Could you figure out how to post them in some other size? My eyesight won't allow me to read those even when expanded off of the thumbnail size. Just hoping!
Okay, here's the last one. You have to click three times to be able to read it. Since I can post a few more attachments on this thread, I'll add some American ones.
Clint, Open each seperate page, then click on them again to make them larger. Rules, rules and more rules. "Must not be too happy?" Somehow I don't think that was a problem. "Must not wear a contemptous smile." Geez
Just incredible. What a waste. Maybe there might of been a small percentage that would of done harm. But not enough to errect such camps. The things that are done during war.
I was under the impression given by the thread title and by the "spirit" of some of the rules ("must bow to every gaurd upon meeting") that these rules are for Americans in Japan not the other way around.
Actually, I think they are Japanese rules for foreign internees. Look at160 and 161, for example. I can't see the US government writing anything like this.
Just to clarify, yes these are rules for allied civilian internees under the Japanese. LRusso, I couldn't figure out how to post the attachments so they are larger, but I see you know how. If Clint can't read the attachements, would you mind posting all of them - or explain how I can do it?
Actually, Bob, all I did was to click on the image, click again to make it larger, then right clicked on it and chose copy. I posted the reply, then pasted into the box. I wasn't sure it would work, but obviously, it did. No magic involved.
I miss read this in the beginning I thought it was about U.S. intern camps. Sorry. I never realized there was an actual set of rules printed up by the Japanese. I always thought it was however the imperial army wished to treat it's prisoners. Amazing Hap Haloran was thrown into a zoo and starved for bombing a part of Japan. Ratri who was from the Phillipines and lives in Cincinnati was forced to clean Japanese uniforms and sleep with the officers when they wanted her. I am sure rule 148 wasn't hard to follow. Amazing that the dictatorship had the gull to right out such garbage. I wonder if the Germans had such extensive rules?
