It's every schoolboy's dream - from the tiny rows of ammunition to the miniature cockpit canopy gracing this stunning model aircraft.
It is an exact replica of a P-51D Mustang which was America's primary long-range fighter plane during the Second World War. And it was made by a retired dentist who used some of his instruments to create it.
Built on a 1/16 scale, every part is fully functional, linked by an intricate series of minuscule chains, cables and hinges.

I have pictures of an F4U Corsair, this guy built, it almost looks as though you could fire up the engine and fly the thing around in your back yard! His patience and attention to detail is incredible.

it is, without doubt, absolutely astonishing. But.... at the risk of being accused of nit picking, I'd have to say that the shape and proportion of the engine bearer doesn't look quite right, and I don't think the airfoil section looks like it's a proper laminar flow. Please don't jump on me, I know how amazing it is and how skilled the guy is!
