Yesterday we got our first snow storm of the year, and it broke the record we had for most snow since 1995 with 24 wopping inchs! the nephew and niece had a blast, i was shoveling snow :/
Yes, thanx , we got some 8 inch and more is on its way. As I live near the coast it could be melting away in a couple of days and that is a huge mess left then on the roads.
11 centimers and polar temperatures. Enough to get the kids at school with a sleigh. It's kind of melting now , but I hope there will stil be some left for Christmas.
We have under an inch here and I'm dreading driving down to London this morning because our roads will inevitably be horribly messy and full of people driving like fools!
Haven't had much snow to speak of the last few days but it appears another large front moving in for Christmas Eve. The bad thing about lake effect snow is once it starts and it gets it in it's mind, it can snow for a week. Tonight I modify my tent to go on my snowblower so I can actually use it.
We got hammered in the Philadelphia area. 23" at the official weather station. I live in the northwest suburbs and we got about 14". The average annual snowfall in this area is 19".
DC got enough to close the government. 18 inches of dry powdery snow was on my driveway yesterday morning here in Columbia, MD!
We got the same storm here in north east PA. Just caught the edge of it, recieving about 4 inches. Very dry powdery stuff as it keeps blowing back into the raods, but isn't slick enough to mess up the roads too bad
We often get a little snow around this time of year, generally any time between November and February is fair game for snow. We normally get between 1 and 8 inches over the course of a week, sometimes a couple of times a year and it invariably brings the country to a standstill, laughable really.
wow, i wish we had just part of that snow, so far its only flurried here, and not much of it stuck and what little did is gone already.
We here in Billing MT. had a pretty decent snow last week, then it warmed up and a great deal of it melted off. But, just in time for Christmas, it has begun to snow lightly again as we near noon. It is supposed to be tapering off by afternoon, and sunny and clear for the next two days. Should make for a lovely Christmas "background", and fun for the kiddles sliding on the hills. Here is a peek toward the Rimrocks just north of my home, taken at 11 a.m. or thereabouts.
Here in central Illinois what little snow we had is gone due to the rain. My nearly new snow-thrower is sitting in the garage just waiting. Talked to a friend working at the Big "P" and he wore out a shovel moving the twenty plus inches they got in Virginia.
we have about an inch of crunchy snow/ice ........funny thing is because were not used of it, (hence totally unprepared)....it brings everything to a standstill, the council doesnt even have salt to put out on the roads!
Denver, CO is showing true spirit for Christmas this year The snow has been falling all morning, and it's absolutely beautiful. Estimating 3-4 inches so far. Jem
North Carolina, down by charlotte is the same way  the kids love it when theres even a frost because good chance they're home for the day
Here are a couple of pics I took the other day in the woods near my parents house, not snow on an American scale but pretty. The first is simpy a wide path though the woods, the second is a medieval moated enclosure dating back to the 13th century, you can't see much of it but it looks good in the snow.
Very pretty Stefan, I love what hoar-frost can do to even rather "dull" trees, even the lowly "Russian Thistle" which is an imported item here in Montana. Origianally planted in the "dirty thirties" for it's rapid growth and soil retention abilities, it has become a favorite tree for birds as both a nesting site and food source. These robins were in one just out my back-door this morning.
