I went to the Bodensee this year for the first time. All I can say is it was hot, sunny and beautiful. Sehr Schon! Kein Schnee.
yes yes I forgot the extra m big deal the point is that also the writer of the rank also included the ü not the standard u for the low rank of the W-SS man life is a pickle
Great grouping of pics John, congrats on getting these... The Sturmmann pic is very nice with the M-36 tunic and Schiffchen with the totenkopf button insignia. Best Regards, fischer
Awesome pic John...You have been busy! This Totenkopf Soldat is wearing a M-42 tunic with a very early Oberbayern cuff title. Personnel who transferred into the 3rd SS Division "Totenkopf" from the SS-Totenkopfstandarte 1 Oberbayern "Dachau" continued to wear the skull cuff title, even before the Totenkopf Division was authorized it own...spelled out one...in Sept. 1942. Possibly wear extended beyond just prior-service SS-TV1 to regular "W-SS/TK" members....but the skull cuff title WAS NEVER AUTHORIZED for the 3rd SS Div. Totenkopf., and worn strictly "traditionally" or "against regulations" when it was. From the amount of photographic evidence, one can surmise that this piece of insignia was highly sought after by members of the division. Great pic John...Congrats! Best Regards, fischer
Fischer as always your a wealth of knowledge. I appreciate the info here. I would like to get into SS collecting a bit more, so thats really useful info. BR John
Here is a flieger hj photo album I have had for a while. My partners uncle fleww thes SG38 Spatz (sparrow) when he was thirteen years old. As he was slightly light of the required weight he put stones in his pockets to gain the weight. I also saw a real spatz at the Sinsheim museum two years ago. Lovely looking little glider ( the covered cockpit version). Hope you enjoy these as much as me. regards John
Thease are the last photos in the album. The last one is a bit out of the ordinary. A four engined bomber? I had a quick look up, but the nearest I could find was the Me 264VI experimental long range bomber. The cockpit area and wing shape is right, but the tail section is slightly different in that the Me 264 had a swept back tail, where as this photo shows a squared of tail section. Any ideas? regards John
