" Between 1939 and 1943 a complex of buildings strictly screened off from the outside world had grown up in Kleinmachnow, to the South of Berlin. This was the Hakeburg, a research institute of the German Postal Service. The minister for Postal Services, Walter Ohnesorge, used the Service´s research institutes to develope weapons technologies which it was hoped would win the war. The main areas were high-frequency technology, television, radar and atom physics."

Anyone know more of this area and what they did there? Thanx for any info!

The answer may be television research most likely ..hope you guys can read german , found a german pdf about the history of the hakeburg ..it mentions being used as a home for Ohnesorgen and forschung (reseach) and involvevement and visits by high nazi's and a change in function after 1940 where SS gets involved .
    here's the PDF : http://www.politische-bildung-brandenburg.de/publikationen/pdf/hakeburg.pdf

    Den Aufgabenkreis umreißt ein
von Ohnesorge unterzeichnetes Dokument: „1. Fernsehen; 2. allgemeine
    Physik, insbesondere Atomphysik, Optik, Akustik, Elektronik; 3. Chemie;

    4. Sonderaufgaben für den Vierjahresplan.“
Auf dem Fernsehgebiet behalte sich die RPF
„nicht nur die Forschung, sondern auch die technische Entwicklung der
Fernsehgeräte und die Erprobung neuartiger Breitbandkabel für die

    Fernsehbenutzung vor“

Thanx for the article Heinrich. Know some German but gotta get my dictionary to understand more...

Anyway, the German system was pretty weird as for example the SS was leading the rocket science program, and like mentioned in the nuclear power research part there were three different projects going on towards the end of war: SS, Postal system and the Heisenberg program. None very successful but anyway all in some progress.

So the Hakeburg system ( Postal system ) has not been mentioned much so all info will be welcome.

    Bump!
Kept looking for info about the hakeburg Kai , and found some more :
    http://principality-of-sealand.eu/pdf/e_thinktank3rdreich.pdf

Seems like the projects were these :

A TV camera guided torpedo and rocket for KM and LW.
A succesfull hackproject of US and GB datacommunication
    Infrared and Nightvision equipment
    Nightfighter guidance systems
    Atom fysics
High freqency radio and radar techniques (cavities and horns)
developement of the round radarscreens , television techniques for communications ,
1 decimeter band research ( uplinks???)
Shortwave , longwave , ultrashortwave radio transmitters developement
projects Fluko and Tonne for peenemunde

Bet half the forum wont believe it : developement of atomic bomb ..

NF guidance systems was also facilitated in some secret areas in Ost Preußia just to add my two cents. have a good friend in the former KM as 8.8cm Flak but then transferred into radar guidance with the Lw and then back again for his last days in Finland in 44 and the retereat through Prussia when everything was loaded up and moved towards Berlin before it was balsted into space by Soviet artillery and bombs
