Yup, look to the extreme right of your screen and you will see a little star-shaped blue medal-which indicates what rep points you are earning.
reputation points jim, where salutes give 3pts, carl has ability to give his top award of 34pts in rep power, and added reps to your reputation total, ray..
Thanks for the Points....can I exchange them for cash ? I just stretched myself by buying a very special original U-boat album ,the best I have seen . More than twice the amount I have ever paid previously and more than 20 times what I paid for this tank album .. it was just too good to let go . A few more pics to follow... Looking forward to seeing your Uboat pics. I have only two which were taken by the XO of U 108. These two photos are ultra kuhl-looking and both show that uboat diving as these pics were taken by said Offizier from the conning tower.
The U-boat album has to start paying for its self immediately ..I'm looking for a book deal on it and already talking to a few people . Its unusual to get so many crew names in one album ..5 members of the crew later went on to become commanders themselves ,3 went down with their subs . Also contains 8 original photos of its commander who was one of the top u-boat aces of ww2....a very nice album. A few more pics from tank album .. View attachment 10635 View attachment 10636

I was approached by several Authors myself-who wanted the photos I have that were given to my by one of U 181s surviving Vets and best German friend of mine. This man was one of many on that Uboat that got the DKiG. I have his award photos when he was awarded it by CzS Wilhelm Dommes-in Singapore ;-)) Dommes was an RKT, and U-181 had several on it who became RKTS. Its first CDT was none other than Wolfgang Luth himself-and I have a crew photo with Luth in it-w/ RK and the other stuff that comes with it ;-)) BTW, i also possess that last known photo taken of Luth on U-181-wearing summer tan uniform with dark overseas cap-and sporting a large beard. Not too terribly long ago, a U 181 photo album was for sale by a dealer I buy loads of my pics from-and I bid on it-$400, and it sold for almost $3,000. Luth, and my German Vet/Friend-were seen in several of the photos-which was partially why i wanted that album so much and was willing to go broke getting it. Well, in less than 24 hrs, it went from being listed at .99 Cents to that near $3,000 price.
The original U-boat albums are certainly something cherish ....sounds like you have special collection there . Surely you did not really expect to get a good album for $ 400 .. $1000 is now cheap for a quality album .

I didnt expect to get it cheap and $400 was just as far as I could go at that time-unfortunately. This U 181 album was placed up for sale just after I had spent about $1.000 on individual photos and groupings of photos I managed to keep the bastard seller from forever splitting up. Had this album been offered before I bought those some 150 or so individual pics-and at that particular time, this seller didnt have the customer base he now has, and had that album been for sale exactly then? its perfectly feasable that I could have got that album for well below $400.00. My thing is, is that I had already way over extended myself by buying those some 150 odd photos from him and about 30 from other dealers-which amounted at at least $700.00 more that I spent on pics. But since i didn't get that album, im not complaining because I did get quite a few important photos and some of them have direct tie-ins with other militaria and documents I own-which are also ones-of-a-kinds. Many of these photos have been posted by a few kind people for me, on this site.
It is a shame when the old albums get broken up ..the story is lost ...but its certainly the thing to do if profit is the primary motive . I know all about cash flow trouble ..and have kicked myself often when I have spent out ,only to find something better just around the corner ...happens too regularly at the trade fairs I go to ...one day I might learn to keep my powder dry for a while .
