Great Photos !! Christmas Day on Guadalcanal... Give him a big handshake from me. We sure would like to hear more about him.
Thanks Steve Well sadly Dad, my best friend and Hero passed in 2005 at age 88. He was in the Army from 1935 to 1956 and retired as a 1st SGT. He was in a chow line at Schofield BKS Hawaii at 0755hrs 7 Dec 1941 when the attacking planes straffed the guys waiting to get breakfast and he (with many others of course) returned small arms fire upon the attackers. he then fought in Guadalcanal and the northern solomans. I have many of his pics from the war that he either sent home or brought home with him
Welcome, KMB57 Thank you for sharing the photos and reviving a number of interesting threads. I hope you start a new thread on your father's service. Pre-war soldier stories are rare.
