Just wanted to be one of the first to say: Congratulations to our Friends to the North. Great games ! Since the wizards of wizdumb of NBC television sports just preempted the Closing Ceremonies for another stupid talk/reality show the only thing I could do was change the channel and hop on WW2f and ask those of you (who may actually still be watching), how the coverage was in your Country. NBC's coverage for the games was not that bad this time but who ever was the director for the opening and closing ceremonies would get a DNF from me. Again, Congrats Canadians
yes - Congrats Canadians and personally from me to Norway too, I am always amazed about this country and its rather tiny population in regards to their medal grabbing abillities. Regards Kruska
Well, since I got to watch the finish - you missed Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Headly, Alanis Morrisette, and some other groups I didn't quite know (generation gap!)... I do hope though that our sense of humour translated!! We were especially roaring at the stereotypes - like the giant beavers, and the flying moose..... It may have changed Canadians perceptions of themselves and probably changed the world's view!
Yes, it is amazing what Norway accomplishes at the Olympics! We were pleased with how it worked out for Canada in terms of medal counts - especially the last one!
Hi macrusk, never heard of any of the names above, but that doesn't say to much as I didn't recognize most of the names at the last Hollywood awards show here either. I thought the beavers were a tribute to the trappers of old and was curious about the Helium Moose, uh, Moose's? Liked Capt. Kirk's speech and got that fuzzy warm feeling when "Hi, I'm Mike and I'm a Canadian" got a standing ovation. Fox rocks in my book.
ohh no, I missed Hedley and Nickleback! I didn't get to see the closing ceremonies. Oh well I agree Michelle, I hope the world has got to know us a little better, other than being known as "America's attic". Well I hope our American friends and the rest of the world enjoyed Canada for these last few weeks. It sure has been exciting, and I'm sad to see it coming to a close. It sure has been fun!
I thought the Canada (Vancover) put on a great show!!! I was glued to my tv...for most of the last 2 weeks, watching anything from curling to snowboarding (of course hockey [womens and men]) I thought We (canada) got some bad press...for the lack of snow, and weather. But I guess they forget we (nobody) have no control of Mother Nature. But overall it was great!
