    While Haig was doing his shuttle diplomacy, Reagan was providing intelligence to the UK......is this support or is the issue that the support provided was 5 minutes late?

    I said that Reagan did provide support and he did....oh but too late you say. Support is support.

    I specifically stated that this was another of Urgh's anti american rant as he has a history of making such postings. If the shoe fits.....

    I interpreted his original posting as that of today's current situation and only debated his comparison to incidents 27 years ago. Started out as no support from Reagan and then transgressed to support provided too late and then into nitpicking. That was the issue I had. If the US government conducts itself incorrectly, I would be among the first to condemn their actions regardless of the seated president. I have never spoke against the actions of the British people, stereotyped them nor linked them to the actions of their government. I felt the Urgh was doing just that and was fending that off. So there it is.

    PzJgr;

    Let me please answer this way: Germany provided a lot of intel for both Iraq wars and Afghanistan - yet we are not considered to be supporting the US.

    The British have supported as you know, the US with soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and not just with meerly allowing the US to take their own missiles from NATO stock in Germany or forwarding the outlook of lending the US an aircraft carrier to help out in the Persian Gulf, or just allowing the US to make use of a British base to forward attacks.
    The British also made it very, very clear that they would go to war alongside the US against the agressor, and they did - unlike the US during Falklands.

    .......So why are we being dragged down with him and turning this into a Britain vs America slugmatch?

    ............IMO, Urgh's posting do not. But I'm done with this thread as I know it will become a US/UK bashing session of which I refuse to take part as I have the utmost respect for our cousins.

    Sorry I wouldn't know about this, therefore I am only commenting on this particular thread.

    No objections on my behalf on this at all.

    Maybe the two of you should calm down, and discuss (if wanted) the support issue during 1982 - I am sure once openly discussed, you will understand urgh's position into placing a questionmark behind US support in 1982.

    No worries from my side. I never questioned Britain's support of the US so I don't know why you brought it up and I understand anyone who is not happy with the current state of public support from the US. So that is enough for me right now. I will carry on with the noble side of this forum.

    Ha??

    this thread is and was about present and previous support of the US towards Britain.
    And the US did not support Britain in 1982 as it would have been considered appropriate.
    And the US are not supporting Britain right now as it would be considered appropriate.

    The worries on behalf of urgh are therefore justified, and that's about it. .
