My father, John C. Maskevich was a PFC in the 347th Combat Engineers in WWII. I don't know what Co. he was in. He landed on Omaha Beach on D+1 or 2 and made it all the way through to Berlin with Patton's 3rd Army. My sisters and I are putting together a Family History and want to include info, to go with some of his photos, about the role of the 347th Engineer Corps. I haven't been able to find much info online. We do know that at times he served as the driver to his C.O. He was in the Battle of the Bulge, waited outside Berlin, with his unit, while the Russians fought the Battle of Berlin, and that he was one of the few units that had the horrible experience of coming across one of the Concentration/Death Camps. He was up at Hitler's Eagles" Nest and shortly after Germany's surrender was able to return home because he had earned enough points. Any information on the 347th Engineers at that time would be appreciated. Ed Maskevich
