I meant to post this earlier but am doing so now. Actor: Robert Culp-best known for his role in the TV series: I Spy-which also had Bill Cosby as his partner-has passed away at the age of 79. He was out walking (according to one report I heard) when he had a heart attack and collapsed outside his home. Another report I heard was that he fell and hit his head and the cause of death was from that fall. Either way, Rest in Peace Mr. Culp. I more fondly remember you in a COMBAT episode as a Sergeant who puts Kirby up for a Court-martial. I THINK its called: Hill 242? or something like that? :mourn: This makes for three TV greats who have recently passed away. I hope this is enough for awhile. ;-(
That's a Shame may he rest in peace. Robert Culp of I Spy dies Read more: http://www.cbc.ca/arts/tv/story/2010/03/24/robert-culp-obit.html#ixzz0jCpepYPi
I always like Culp, and I do remember him in a couple of other "guest shots" where he also did yeoman's work as a character actor. He played the 'bad guy" a couple of times, Columbo? May he rest in peace.
"I Spy" was one of my favorite shows in my younger days. I always liked Culp's sort of laid back attitude. Sorry to see him pass on.
I also forgot he was in the pseudo Actionhero/comedy series called: The Greatest American Hero. I remember liking that show quite a bit and it is out on Dvd. I don't think I ever had a chance to ever see any I Spy episodes. That series too, is out on DvD.
I remember watching I Spy as a kid. I had an I Spy comic book set in Hong Kong. I think it was the first comic book I read cover-to-cover. Always liked Bill Cosby and his trade-mark .45. Greg C.
More recently he played the father in-law of Ray Romano on Everybody Loves Ray, and he was great in that. Truly a gifted actor. RIP.
Hi Scott, thanks for the extra and, I wasn't aware of that series w/ Ray Romano? Guess my mind iss tuck too much into either WWII, Old Classic movies, and this site ;-))
I never liked the I Spy TV show. I did though like watching him in the Greatest Amercian Hero. He sort of gave "credit" to the up-start TV show.
I was sorry to see this in todays' newspapers. As a kid, I rather liked Culp because he didn't appear to be taking himself too seriously.
I remember an interview he did a number of years ago and one thing i particular he said was that he never acted on any set-just had fun.
