Now this has got to top off the dumbest thing of the day to do list. A Somali Pirate Skiff attacked a US Frigate which promptly sank their hopes at being thieves. They took three into custody and then sank their Skiff. They also cought another pirate ship and two pirates.

How STUPID can these Somail pirates be?

New interesting developments there was two boats, they did sink one and the US Navy have just surrounded the Mother Ship, the boats were launched from. Stay tune this could get intreasting:gatlinggun:

I almost posted this in the old Pirate thread around here somewhere. I too thought in silly to attempt, but the article says the attack happened at night. The pirates may well have just spotted a ship, not knowing whether it was a tanker, cargo, or Navy ship, before attacking. It has happened a few times in the last decade, but has increased over the last few years (since that Ukranian ship with all the tanks was captured).

Two more pirates surrendered and the "mother ship" was "confiscated," the Navy added.

You know, they should bring back the laws that existed in the 1700-1800's in regards to dealing with piracy. No one had a problem shooting at them and sinking their boats, and then hanging anyone they captured. Now, it seems like people are powerless to take any action against them unless fired upon first, at which point they try to capture the pirates, only to return them to a country with no government, or somewhere else where they only serve a year or two in prison.

Me thinks that the best way to deal with pirates is a 'scorched earth' policy. It'll certainly make people think twice about resorting to Piracy, just like it did way back in the days of the United States and Tripoli (the Barbary Pirates or whatnot).

remember these poor souls have nothing to lose but everything to gain in their own minds. poverty scuminess galore in their living surroundings, apparently they need to prove their manhood which is sometimes fatal. Do believe they will continue their boldness at whatever cost to themselves.

    brainless ........... most probably

Always a pleasure to find Information C.E. I found a well informed article, like I stated on my Post these Guys are higher then Chic and Chung,
They promote the use of drugs - chewing khat [a stimulant which keeps one alert] and smoking hashish - and alcohol,"

Why do they do it, With such success is a great attraction for Puntland's youngsters, who have little hope of alternative careers in the war-torn country.
Once a pirate makes his fortune, he tends to take on a second and third wife - often very young women from poor nomadic clans, who are renowned
    for their beauty.

In the Somali region of Puntland where most of the pirates come from, they live a lavish life.

"They have money; they have power and they are getting stronger by the day," says Abdi Farah Juha who lives in the regional capital, Garowe.

"They wed the most beautiful girls; they are building big houses; they have new cars; new guns."

Piracy in many ways is socially acceptable. They have become fashionable." Most of them are aged between 20 and 35 years - in it for the money.
And the rewards they receive are rich in a country where almost half the population need food aid after 17 years of non-stop conflict. Most vessels
captured in the busy shipping lanes of the Gulf of Aden fetch on average a ransom of $2m. This is why their hostages are well looked after.
