I've searched for a while with no real results here in the forums. I was wondering if anyone could recommend various Pacific War fiction - it can be centered on the air war, land or sea battles, doesn't really matter.

One result I came up with in a similar search was the novel "Whip" by Martin Caidin. It seemed to get good reviews so I will look for that.

I also seem to remember hearing about a recent series of Pacific War novels centered around the Battle of Samar...perhaps during the 2000s was when they were published. I may have read about them here or somewhere else, cannot remember. If I could track those down, that would be nice as well.

Any and all help/recommendations are welcome. Thanks!

Well, I'm back. I managed to do a little research and found what I was looking for. The main author's name is John J. Gobbell. He has written several books in a series dealing with a group of characters in the ww2 pacific theater.

I managed to pick this one up at a local used bookstore for $1...it's not bad!

Amazon.com: A Code For Tomorrow (9780312971427): John J. Gobbell: Books

If this title is any indication, they contain a good balance of drama and action. It's good for some light summer reading in any case.
