no doubt for me. Schindler's list. never saw so many grim faces walk out of a theatre. including mine !!!! I also thought Sophies choice was outstanding as well. a note here: I showed this movie to 2 gals i dated back in the 80's. the first was a polish lady who claimed it was the best movie she ever saw. but a different reaction from the 2nd. physical. if you saw it remember the scene where the german officer gave her the coice of keeping one child???? this gal had 2 young daughters and came unglued when she saw this. started crying. then hauled off and hit me !!!! these movies are emotional for many to watch.
Hi PizzaD, I only ordered from Ama/ Uk once but had no probs. Have you ever tried the TV to me site? I dont have its URL off hand but you can order just about anything form them your heart desires.
I forgot about Amen (2002) It's a story of an SS officer who is exposed to the slaughtering of jews in the death camps.. He frantically tries to report what he saw to the church or to anyone who would listen. With the help of a priest he gets to the Vatican to try to get the pope to announce to the world as to what is happening to the jews... The Pope and the vatican ignore. Nothing was done to save the jews of europe. The true story is about an SS officer named Kurt Gerstein. He was an engineer involved in the production of Zyklon B gas. When he found out that the Zyclon B was used to exterminte Jews he tried to slow down the shipments to the camps. He interferred with the chemical production of it, by making the crystals less potent which took longer to kill their victims, therefore slowing down the process of mass extermination.. He rerouted trains and destroyed shipments of the gas to slow down the extermination process. His written testimony as to what happened in those nazi death camps was used as evidence that the holocaust did occur. More info on Kurt Gerstein- http://www.auschwitz.dk/gerstein.htm I did find the movie online for anyone interested in watching it.. Enjoy AMEN (2002) - http://stagevu.com/video/tpedmfomsfpb

Just Seen Spring 1941 today.. it's pretty good.. a love story with a twist... A holocaust film about the hiding of a jewish family. Story is set in 1971, the main character, a famous cellist, goes back to Poland to relive the memories of what happened there in Spring 1941 when the nazis came. 2008
There was a Holocaust film I saw when I was younger but I have no idea of the name. All I remember is seeing an older man with a group of other Jews being led through the process at some death camp. Then they're led into the chamber and the screen goes black. The next scene is of him lying dead on a stretcher being loaded into the oven. The final scene of the movie is all their ashes being dumped into a river. I've never forgotten those last scenes, and it's been at least 20 years since I saw that. I'm sorry for not knowing the name, but maybe someone here knows what movie I'm talking about and has seen it before.
"Come and See"- not a holocaust film but a film about german atrocities truly the most disturbing masterpiece of a war film I have ever watched. Makes Schindlers List look like a piece of hollywood syrup.
That would be the TV adaptation of Herman Wouk's War and Remembrance. The man in question was Aaron Jastrow (Played by Sir John Gielgud).
I thought so! I looked up that mini-series on Wikipedia but I ignored it. Thank you for correcting me.
