Hey all, I recently learned that my Great Uncle was a member of the 327th GIR, Co. A, 101st Airborne during WW2. My uncle was KIA on 1/5/45. He is buried in the Henri -Chapelle Cemetery and i would love to learn more about him. I have been hoping to come across some information as regards to where the 327th was fighting at during that time. My best guess would be bastogne, or somewhere else during the battle of the bulge but i cannot be sure. If anyone has any information regarding the whereabouts of this division during the time frame of December to January please let me know!
They were part of the 101st AB. They defended a line running from the southest of Bastogne around to west of the town. I'll look tonight and tell you in more detail where Company A was on 5 Jan 1945, but I suspect they were well east of the town.
Slipdigit thanks for getting back to me so fast! I am really looking forward to the information that you can find, and truly appreciate it! I have researched for a long time trying to find the exact location of the 327th but to no avail. Thanks!
I will see what my father in law says and get back here to post...he was there and was in the 82nd and survived it with 2 purple hearts. Not very many of these guys still around. jones
