Hi Everyone Just thought I would put my first post here and say a little about myself. I've been collecting civilian law enforcement insignia since 1985. In 2007 I started collecting WWII German items. About a year ago I began researching my uncle's military career. As a result I became interested in US Military insignia. I've been a long time member of Wehrmacht Awards, but have been looking for an active WWII US Military Forum. Andrew Huntzman
Welcome to the WW2f Huntzman, Look forward to reading your posts and seeing some of your collection. Where abouts in Central Ill? I'm from outside Peoria. Recently moved to God's Country (Northern Minesota).
Thanks to all who welcomed me. I appreciate it very much. As I said, I am new to the whole US Military collecting realm. To date the only prior interest has been in US Navy SEAL insignia and NIS / NCIS items. The research into my uncle's career has been helping me to understand things a lot better, but I feel like a babe in the woods when it comes to collecting it all. My focus is going to be on recreating my uncles uniform (at least the jacket & hat) for a display, along with his various rank insignia and medals. Most likely this will be like the usual collecting bug, and I will branch off to collecting medals in general with a primary focus on Army and Navy ones. BIAK: I'm from just south of Springfield....... I'm a transplant from NYC !!! Andrew
New York City !!? Quite the cultural shock I'd imagine. You'll get some excellent tips and help for your collecting by a few of the 'best in the business' on here.
Eh, maybe just a little Actually it's like heaven on earth. I know there are a lot of gripes about Illinois, but try living in NY for a couple of years and this place will look like Shangra-La !! I'd love to hook up with some folks here and get some input. Like everything else, it's all about learning.
Biak I hope so, I know I could certainly use the help !!! For those interested, here are some links to see my Military Collections: US Military: US Navy German Military: WWII I offer these links with this caveat, I am woefully outdated. We just recently finished moving and doing home renovations on our last house to sell it. So not everything is listed yet. Andrew
Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone. Steve Mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut. Zu viele Jahre aus dem Land heraus. Doing well, I'm just south of Springfield, out in the country. Beats the hell out of the overpopulation in New York !! Andrew
