Definitely Spain deserves to go through to the next round, yet I feel bad to see Torres dive like that, looking forward to get a cheap penalty. He might regret it if he truly gets tackled in the box in a big match and the referee lets it go thinking this is the guy who likes to dive...

Two big battles in the elimination round.

Allies vs Axis...I mean, England vs Germany.

    And

    Spain vs Portugal

    Should be interesting!

Is it politically incorrect to celebrate your national team?

“Last night, The Daily Mirror’s ambassador in Berlin handed the German government a final note stating that, unless we heard from them by 11 o’clock, a state of soccer would exist between us.”

Oh oh! During the second period the US team looked rather convincing but did not manage to score. So it was Ghana who scored during extra time and continues in the WC games.

    Tough luck for USA.

The back four seemed below par during the match, and untill Dempsey was pushed up quite tame in attack.

Good workrate and drive from the yanks, and I genuily feel sorry for them.

No it isn´t but this is the only occasion you could see a national flag here.

I'll not bore you about local mad politics...

If only Dempsey wasn't so slow at running...watching him try to catch up to a through ball took about 5 minutes...

I thought poor sportsmanship at the end by Ghana....feigning injury to delay the game etc more so then usual. The ref certainly needed to step up and get the game going but failed to do so for the most part.

Good game though, US could have won it in regular time and at least tied it in OT on several occasions.

Rosé wine and BBQ for me,

I' m a bit sad for the US today, even more than yesterday, the last goal was a pity, but hey it's the game so congrats to Ghana.

Pronostics for this afternoon: 2-1 for Germany, possibly after a penalty

Rooney could turn the game if he starts playing... he´s not been in the shape everybody´s expected him to be. Something wrong with the ankle still? I´d say it´s gonna be penalties again. Lampard has not been that successful lately so perhaps time to change him? We know how it went with Beckham after several penalty misses...

Nah, this one will be decided in regular time. I see Germany going ahead early, with England threatening throughout but after given up a 2nd goal to Germany, they fall flat on their face.

    My prediction:

    Germany 2 - 0 England after 90 minutes.
