Ok Gentlemen, here is another one also picked up yesterday. This is a French pow Koffer (suitcase) with trench art . it had five hand painted insiginias from regiments.

I still have to identify some of them, but the white one is a Maquis one (FFI) and two are Regiment shoulder taps, the two other ones being regiments insignias. Not ethe spelling mistake at "toujours"

    I analysed the insignias:

the Motto "En avant Toujours" belongs to the 49th Infantry Regiment based at Bayonne.

Bingo , the CFP star is a Partisan symbol! check out the local museum!

musée du CFP Corps Franc Pommiès 49ème RI

the "Navarre sans peur" is the 5 Infantry Regiment Motto. This famous regiment is famous ever since the 18th century ad fought at Valmy, the Yser, Verdun, and during WWI was part of the 1st Free french Armored Divsion and fough tfor instance in the Vosges.

Me too. My "Schloss Adler" is still there and has plenty of storage space. No worries on Security, after all, we do have several GJ Battalions in the area constantly coming and going and Clint Eastwood is in charg--no that was Major von Hapen ;-))

Forgot to mention, great new addition Skip ;-))

    Cheers Skipper, Kai,

Skip, I dont know if I still have any? but I might have a few vintage DIs dating back to the Korean War. If I can locate in storage, where my Dads things are? I THINK there was 2-3 in there??? not sure? Anyway, if they are there, just remind me sometime and ill give them to you.

    Take care--C.

Kai, that is one fantastic postcard and I bet this one set you back a pretty Euro or ten ;-))

Thanx Carl, I totally agree on it being a fantastic postcard. I think Model did not left much personal items behind as he destroyed almost everything before committing suicide so makes it worth a bit more.

    Cheers Skip, Kai,

Skip, I started looking yesterday sooo???? I dont know what ill find thta aint with my German stuff. Ill let you know if I do find them or something of interest. I MIGHT even have an extra shoulderpatch my Dad wore on his early 1950s USAF uniforms. This would be either a Japanese or Korean made patch and is hand-embroidered. Its for a Weather Detachment he was in while serving in Korea. If I do have a spare? its yours.

Kai, fully agree with you. Ive not seen hardly anything dealing with Model. That card has got to be one of those more rarer finds or might have come from some big Estate sale?

    Brought back from Croatia:

An Arbeitsbuch from a young butcher from Kiel. He later moved to Berlin and worked there until he was enlisted in 1941.
Check the many nice cancelation marks.

Wonderful studio photo attached on a heavy stock paper.

With a long handwritten dedication and signature of Dr.h.c.Erich Raeder.

    Around the year 1929.

    Also signed by the photographer.

Our Flemmish and Dutch members will love this rare Hitler-Jugend booklet called Führerdienst. This is the March 1944 issue in Dutch and calls for Flemmish Volunteers for the Landsdienst (settlers in the Ost territories).
