Anyone know the significance of the offset arms of the swastika - I couldn't find any refs to that yet, but it seems unusual?

Civilian I think, not army or NSDAP but a 'fashionable' item for a party supporter. Upper class people had them in gold , others in copper and or brass, sometimes silver, but the quality was still excellent. I like those a lot because they are unusual.

As Skipper says, the Swastika cufflinks are stylized for civilian use, nothing to do with military or official issue. At Beltring this year, there were some old house tiles for sale, the pattern on which used a similiar design.

    Very interesting items, indeed.

The cufflinks are intersting to collect as most were thrown away in 1945 and are quite hard to find . I found these in a shoe box with pins and keychains. Notice they are both different size which suggest they once had an alter ego, but I could not find more in the box. Mind you, two on the same day + the container is more than I need to be happy.

The container is on display with my other Luftwaffe items Andy. I love the container. The funniest is that no one had spotted it until I picked it up and when I did, they all jumped on it, but I did not put it back and bought the thing on the spot. :D

I'm wondering if the 'cufflinks' are not actually one cufflink and a shirt stud, or even a front and rear collar stud set.

Another equipment item for my collection ; nothing rare, but again it's one of those items which is just so typical for the Wehrmacht soldier of WWII...

The gasmask canister on the right came from German e-bay at reasonable cost ; it's lightly rusted, has the aluminium liner intact and is stamped 'E.E. 40'...

( BTW the other one is a battlefield relic purchased in the Ardennes some years back....;) )

    Nice items Skipper, Martin, Kai.

I just got three more pics and hopefuly will know by Thursday if I get the others I want.

    the three include:

    1) Pic of Cavalry in some Russian Village.
    2) Another pic of the same Cav unit going through a Russian village.
    3) Another pic of an EKII award Ceremony.

Two im hoping to get include:

    1) A photo that I saw listed several months ago-lost the bidding on, found out the bidder never paid so I got a chance for this one. The photo itself was taken somewhere on the outskirts of Leningrad and shows an obliterated SDKFZ 251 HAlftrack. Its a sure thing there were no survivors in that vehicle.

    2) Not a great pic but nice enough: Shows three German Officers out hunting carrying Shotguns-somewhere in Russia.

hey folks some new pics arriving from France, Carl should enjoy the ceremony fotos .............

    L. Bertam RK in the Stug-Brigade 237 operating Stug # 11 received the award on 12th of August 1944 after his 12 victory over Soviet armor. He later became Oberleutnant and then Hauptmann commanding the 1st Kompanie in the Brigade which later became a Sturm-Panzer unit as a whole operating the Stug IV chassis with the 150mm gun. Please note the later all black/skull collar tabs while in service with Sturmpanzer Abteilung 219. Bertrams last service was as an instructor from what I can gather at the Fahnenjunkerschule der Artillerie in Kammwald in Böhmen

His RK ceremony with his Kompanie in attendance and Hitlerjugend/school kids in the background watching.

You've excelled yourself there, Skipper !

Exactly 'my' sort of militaria....unusual, and to a first glance maybe not much - but that marking gives the game away. Great item - and you don't have to worry that it was faked in Russia last week........

Great pics Erich, I didn't know you had a network in France.

also just arrived a Deutsche Rotes Kreuz medic belt Beutel (medics had two of those instead of cartridges around their belt. The back strap is missing , but that's just amatte rof carefully sewing the one I have on it , the rest is perfect, the leather prtection inside is still intact, the label is missing though but marks of bottles and needles can still be seen

Cheers Martin, I am getting very cautious with all the fakes on the market, so a Reichbahn lantern is a wise choice. I also lov emy medic beutel even if the back straps need to be repaired on it

One other example: this rucksack was on the ground. I immediately saw it and picked it up for 10 euros . It's very interesting because it has a "field" repair that was probably consolidated during a leave with a sewing machine (of course with WWII cloth only) . As a result a strap was changed and one clip is in fact part of a Gemran canteen!

I have a small story that goes with it. It was found by a pow in 1945 who took it home to France and kept it with other relics for the rest of his life. This include a small homemade suitcase with name and Stalag + a little talisman ( a curved heart in aluminium that came from his dad from the 1915 battlefields.) Therefore I have the names of both dad and son and know bits of their lives. The suitcase is still for sale (I already have many stalag koffers so I left it. If you are interested I could probably still find it next weekend.

Hi Skipper, E, great Lantern there, I ""need"" one myself-but army marked ;-)) Those pics will look great anytime you do get time to post them ;-))

E/ those are some fantastic pics, and made my day ;-))

Im hoping to make your day when Skipper gets time to post the Russian Tanks pics as well as my 6 new wins ;-)) You guys will like the info I can give on a few of them. Im starting to get a decent thing going on here with some important actions and places on the Eastern Front ;-)) Ill tell more later.

E/ I forgot to mention: did you ever see the four pics I got that were taken either of or by RKT Hptm Glatzner? Those set me back a chunk of change but were well worth it. One has a pic he took of a KOed T-36 in some Russian forrest somewhere and another shows him-pre RKT in a Waffenrock-great-looking uniform-whish I had it.
