Hello my name is Lacy (yes I am a man dispite the name) and I have just became a member. I live in Seattle now but grew up in Pittsburgh Pa. I am 48 years old and by the time I was 10 years old I had become very interested in history specifically WWII. I am a prolific reader of war and history books especially personal narratives. I have an uncle that is a Vietnam Vet that has been collecting mostly German WWII memorabilia since the mid 1960's. From an early age I used to go to his house and admire all of the showcases full of medals, uniforms, hats, helmets, daggers etc. and from then on I became very interested in German WWII history. I started reading books by the age of 12 and have read hundreds of history and personal narrative books on the various wars mostly WWII. I also started to collect memorabilia myself in my teens. Exclusively german WWII medals, Iron Crosses, wound badges and all the rest of the medals that the Wehrmacht used. I had quite an extensive collection for a while. Back then I could buy a genuine Iron Cross first class for $30!!! 2nd class iron crosses went for $15 to $20, wow! if I only had all the medals I had collected now! Well I sold them all while I worked my way through college to help pay for my schooling. I have also been an avid model builder, mostly WWII armor and planes but sailing ships as well. About 20 years ago I was building German Armor and won a few model contests with a Tiger and a PzkwIV that I had built and modified with photo etched brass. Now a days I collect autographed photos of Luftwaffe and U-boat aces. I have at least 200 signed photos and most were signed before 1985 and are nice card stock Argenta post card photos not reproduced photos on photo paper. I am quite proud of my collection so far, I have been focusing on post war signed photos so they are all german vets who have survived the war. The war time signed photos are still out of the price range that I would spend on a signed photo. Well not much more to say except I love outdoor hobbies and sports, Travel, mountain climbing and biking, martial arts, hiking, camping and sailing. I am a huge history buff and I am glad I have found this site to help me expand my quest for knowledge. thanks Lacy Sutton
