Isn't he the guy that after the war was almost court-martialed due to his lack of quick thinking during the initial battles of Monte Cassino and his wastage of two prime American divisions ?

    Arrrrrghhhhhhh!!!!!! Again!!!

Yes, liutenant general Mark Clark, chief of US 5th Army took Rome June 4th 1944. He knew about the D-day so he hurried his troops because he wanted the attention on him for a while. Which he would have not had if he had entered Rome after D-day. And he was not a good commander for me. He wasted his troops too much. he simply gave them to Kesselring.

yeah i was never thrilled with the way the war was fought in Italy...frankly i don't understand why there was fighting in italy at all after the invasion of southern france? Fighting after that event was pointless and wasteful...as long as the allies had forces there the germans would remain there...they should have just dug in and stopped attacking.

On March 20, 1944 He and Rudel landed their plane in a muddy field, after attakcing a bridge near Jampol. He wants to take aboard the crew of a Ju87 that crashlanded there. Because of the muddy field, they cannot take off again and have to swim the river Djnestr to get to their own lines. Hentschel drowns in the river.

What a disasterous end for a gunner, who had been flying with Rudel for over 1,000 missions.

Sorry to say Carl and Friedrich, but rules are rules! ;) You can only pose a question if you are the first to answer one correctly. And you can only ask your question one the person who asked it has confirmed your correct response. ;)

Stevin is the next up at the plate to ask...

    We are sorry, Herr Generalfeldmarschall!

If we were in the Red Army you would shoot us, wouldn't you?

But well, I had to try...
