Would anyone have photos of the Liberty Ships USS Alfred Moore or the USS Leland Standford? Plain vanilla ships that transported my favorite Tank Battalion back from the ETO; I'm coming up dry. They were scrapped in 1961 and 1967 respectively and they must have been photographed by someone, somewhere...
    Thanks!

Would you be so kind as to share with us the numerical designation of your "favorite Tank Battalion."

Would you happen to know the date(s) and location(s) the SS Alfred Moore and SS Leland Stanford departed from in the ETO, returning the 781st Tank Battalion to the USA? Also, the date(s) and location(s) of the two ships when they arrived back in the USA?

    Respectfully,
    Richard V. Horrell

    Richard,
    I know approximate dates:
Both left Le Havre on or about June 25th, 1945; each embarking half of the 781st.
One debarked the troops in New York and one went to Hampton Roads (I don't know which went where) and both arrived on or about July 11th, 1945.
    Thanks!
    John
