Greetings to all: I am a Vietnam veteran having served in the Army from 1966 to 1974. I served 21/2 years in Nam. Today I work as the Veterans Service Officer for Roberts County, South Dakota. (Yes, we are a state and we actually have paved streets, etc). We are located on the former Lake Traverse Indian Reservation. Our tribal members are Dakota, Lakota and Nakota members, depending on which area of the state you are in. I have great respect for all military members but since taking this position I have come to realize the importance of our WWII veterans. I now realize the tasks they had to accomplish and at what price they paid. I have the privilege of listening to some of the stories of my WWII veterans and it never ceases to amaze me. To all of you, thank you from the depths of my heart. I am trying to assist the sister of a KIA on Leyte, P.I. His name is George Donald Sorbel. His date of death was October 28th, 1944. He was in Co. F, 382nd Inf Regiment. He may have been killed around Tabontabon. Any information would be appreciated. I also want to thank Don Dencker for his reply. Will visit again later.
Welcome Vetsvet, glad you joined. Thank you for your service in Vietnam. It does not go unappreciated in my home.
Have you obtained Mr. Sorbel's I.D.P.F.? That would be the best source of facts to begin with. Richard V. Horrell
