Hey All, After reading a book concerning the hunt for escaped Nazis after the end of the war, it got me thinking as to whether there are many remaining Nazi's that were unaccounted for, or who just disappeared? Are there still efforts to hunt down any remaining Nazis? Anyone have any indication of who the most wanted Nazis are?
Here is a list of the most wanted Nazi war criminals that I found after a search on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's website. The list is from April 2008. Perhaps someone has a more up to date list. It is towards the bottom of the article. Content Search | Simon Wiesenthal Center
Seems that BrianP has found the best list. i could not find one of 2009-2010. are they still busy with finding them ?
Hi, There is some more information on the current list of most wanted on this website Operation: Last Chance. In particular, check out the "Summary of Wiesenthal Center's 2010 Annual Report on the Worldwide Investigation and Prosecution of Nazi War Criminals (April 11, 2010)" At the end of the document you will see the list of the top 10 most wanted. Operation Last Chance is an ongoing effort to apprehend Nazi war criminals. One person on the list, Charles Zentai, won an Australian Federal Court case in July 2010 so that he will not be extradited to face further investigations. Zentai is 88 years old. So I reckon they will never stop looking for them. Kind regards, Cathryn
There may be two groups of concern, the groups that are hunted by the Weisenthal center and those like-minded individuals and groups that wish to continue the movement and hold the goals of the defeated Nazis as proper and continue to aspire to finding venues for continuing this sort of dominance amongst mankind. The latter is not small in number by the way if you look across the U.S. you will find many.
They certainly are still looking for them, there was a 90 something year old German here in Australia who was convicted for Nazi war crimes in ww2 and was sent back to Germany, and that was only a few years ago. They found him through his tax, apparently some names didn't match up.
