I just clicked on my user name for the first ime and noticed these nice people had thanked me for salutes I have given.

I have never done the same. For those who have saluted me please accept my apologies for me not having the good manners to drop you a note saying thanks. I will correct this in the future if there is a need.

It was a year before I even noticed that kind of thing.

You are not the only one Ken! I'm as dumb as a bag of hammers when it comes to catching on to something. :D

It also took me quite a few months before I realized that giving someone thanks for a salute was common. No worries from here, either. Just keep on posting things that are relevant, and we'll keep saluting you.

If it would make you feel better, just start knocking out some push-ups to make amends. Say, 5 for each neglected thank-you will do for starters....

I never expect them. At times it even seems disruptive to the flow of the conversation. On the otherhand sometimes it adds to it. I don't even notice when I get them a good portion of the time so am probably guiltier of it than you.

Quite alright, Old Boy. I miss them left right and centre at times!

I too am extremely lax in thanking those who have given me either salutes or positive reps. I just don't catch them being added all that often. I know that is a lame excuse, but it just happens that way too much of the time.

Ditto. I'm afraid that when I'm here I'm usually rushing to fit in as much as possible - which is a lame excuse, for missing out on a courtesy; however, I hope that those to whom I miss making a formal thank you realize my appreciation.

Add me to the list, usually by the time I notice the salute it's so old it makes litthe sense to send thanks.

No problem Ken I never thank people for salutes, not because I'm rude but because I'd rather spend time moderating. I simply try to reward nice people in my own way which could for example be to give them reputation points

I also do not thank people for salutes received. Though, I also do not think it necessary for others to thank me for salutes given. If you deserve them, you will get them.

Same here. In the past ive had a few who actually tried soliciting them from me but I politely refused on grounds of that I cant just give them out-and believe it or not? I dont freely give them out. I find more than enough daily to those deserving and I run out-daily ;-0)
