My uncle went MIA in WWII while serving in Kodiak Alaska. Out of the 9 siblings he had there are 3 remaining one of which is my mother, I would like to have a memorial bracelet made for her and my other Uncles but over the years his service information has been lost. I have his name, branch of service, hometown and duty station but that is all. Where would i turn to find out more such as his rank when he went missing, dates ect ? I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone could give me in my search for more information concerning my uncle, Thank you and God Bless.

Searching for : James David Smith, US Army stationed in Kodiak Alaska, Hometown Oklahoma City , reported MIA

That is all the information that I have thus far any further help would be so greatly appreciated.

    Looking,

Start with the National Archives in St Louis. Complete Standard Form 180 and send it in and you should get a copy of your uncle's service record, and you can also get any medals he earned re-issued to you. Your mother may have to sign as a next-of-kin.

    Start your journey here:
    Military Personnel Records
They are good folks and love to assist people like you.
    Good Luck!

I would suggest that you obtain your uncle's I.D.P.F. (Individual Deceased Personnel File).
