Looking for information

I am looking for information from some of you WW2 historians. I am a caretaker for an individual who was in the Pacific theatre, and am looking for some information on his unit.

He states that he was in Pearl a few days after the attack, and he describes that in great detail. He said he was US Army 560th Artillery, and he was attached to the 2nd Marine Division. Other than that, his stories kind of get garbled. I have been looking, but am unable to find anything relevant.

If someone can help me with some information about these guys...I'd appreciate it a lot.

The 560th Artillery was originally organized in the latter part of 1938 and continued in force until August 1950 when it was absorbed by the 503rd Artillery. The 560th was shipped to only two major campaigns, the 1st Campaign was Tarawa and the Second Campaign was the Solomon Islands. If he was stationed in Hawaii during the Attack of Pearl Harbor, than his Commander would have been, General Kirkpatrick who was killed in the early part of 1943, and the Command was turned over to James Erickson, then a Col. but upon taking Command of the 560th he was promoted to the Rank of Brig. Gen. The 560th seen action on most fronts of the Pacific Theater, but officially they only participated the two above campaigns; the problem with its history stem primarily from the fragmentation of the entire Command Structure, and the need for Artillery on all fronts; the Companies was dispatched where they were needed without regard for technical assistance from any other Division, Company or Unit. Thus, his history of the 560th may be garbled, as he may have seen action all over, as Commanders of various Companies often had to use unusual tactics to receive Artillery.
