I got a SS Zeltbahn last year and it has a Plane Tree patter that does'nt look quite right. Is this color combination real or is it just a weird repo?

I magnified the image 400%, unfortunately you seem to have a reproduction , the original paint job and pattern used should have several different colors (including specks of red and blue), the image you provided are lacking in this detail.. Hope this helps. -Cmd. Sgt. Maj. McKee

The pattern is correct, the colors for the pattern is incorrect. BUT, the pattern is right on point, again I magnified the two samples to 400+% and based on my experience, there seems to be no discernible difference with the original and the reproduction (that you currently have). :D -Cmd. The register seems a bit off on yours, but I'm pretty sure that would have happened with originals too - especially late war.

This usually happens within the first 3 to 4 months of being on-line, especially in combat situations, this is nothing major, it is due to ground maintenance attempting to repair any damage done and touching up the paint job with what they had on hand at the time of the repairs. -Cmd. Well I bought it used, and the reenacting group i'm in is a late war group. So do you think that this Zelt would be appropriate for use on the field?

From what I can tell, that version is called the 'Oakleaf' 'B' pattern, not the 'plane tree' pattern, although later versions of both became much more similar.

Was in use 1943 onwards definitely by SS and possibly a little before.

Get a bit of mud 'n' blood on it and I'm sure it will fit in fine :)

Alright, thanks for all your help. This has been a mystery to me for a while.

    You're welcome :)

If you take a look at any late war SS pictures, the variety of camo patterns they are all wearing in the same unit is impressive - there doesn't seem to have been any standard unit issue.

    Have fun with it:)
